PROJECTS 60 61 ostiliomobili Magazine - Edition 1 ostiliomobili signs a current and enveloping furnishing project, full of refined and exclusive details. Laura Cesari Interior Designer Can you tell us a particular detail about the project you created with ostiliomobili? The whole project was a challenge because the clients had lots of ideas that were – as often happens – a bit hard to pin down. In fact, the design phase took a long time, with countless changes of direction. Of course it’s their home, but the entire project was meant to be their calling card. We’re talking about a couple that’s used to hosting many evenings with friends and colleagues at home, with a clear request to create a real “wow” effect. That’s why we focused strongly on a very distinctive kitchen that could double as a bar for such occasions, and on the dining space, creating a table just for them.. How do you think the synergy between the architect and the furniture supplier can positively influence a project’s final outcome? The architect definitely plays a key role, keeping a constant eye on what’s happening on site and making sure everything is executed as designed together with the furniture supplier, so nothing is left to chance. The architect is the creative driver, and often the furniture supplier’s job is to clarify the alternatives and the constraints of each brand being brought into the project. When craftspeople get involved everything changes – in the best possible way – because you can create brand-new, fully custom pieces, as we did for this couple’s table.. How do you think furniture choices can add value to an architectural project? In this case it was easy to create a distinctive atmosphere because the couple let themselves be guided and happily embraced our proposals together with those of the architect. Their taste is a little out of the ordinary, which made it natural to choose brushed brass and a very special marble for the kitchen, and deep green velvet for the sofa. What sets ostiliomobili apart in your mind? Our strength is doing everything possible to meet each client’s requests and budget. ostiliomobili is able to deliver a contemporary, enveloping interior project, rich in refined, exclusive details. We work with a very wide range of products that gives us great flexibility, and thanks to our craftspeople we can also offer custom-made furniture and finishes. We also put a strong focus on customer service, following up on every detail during the design phase and remaining close even after the sale. How do you see the future of your sector? It’s undeniable that clients are increasingly demanding, better informed and more precise in their ideas. I’m convinced that ongoing training and upskilling will become essential business assets. And that training can’t just cover aesthetics or interior trends, it has to be increasingly technical to ensure a functional, exciting result that goes well beyond expectations! Our sector rests on one clear assumption: for Italians the home is – and will always remain – a nest and safe harbour where we can take refuge and recharge. The concept of home won’t change, but it will evolve in step with a society undergoing a profound transformation. Modern desires PHOTO Michela Melotti
